mother! begins with Mother (Jennifer Lawrence) waking up in her bed, wondering where Him (Javier Bardem) is. She gets on with her day by making small renovations in their home when Man (Ed Harris) arrives. As she explores the house she feels a heart beating in the walls, and discovers a leaking oil tank in the basement. Pandemonium ensues as more unwanted people enter her home causing Mother to reach her breaking point.
