Who cares? Not enough.
J.Paul Getty (Christopher Plummer) is the world’s richest man, he is an oil tycoon and shrewd businessman. His main motivation in life is to generate and invest as much as possible. Even if this comes at a cost to the relationships between him and his children.
His son John Paul Getty Jr. (played by Andrew Buchan) is a divorced substance user. In return for not paying child support, his ex-wife gets sole custody of the children. Life starts to get interesting for J. Paul Getty when his grandson (John Paul Getty III) is kidnapped in Rome by an organised crime ring, who are demanding $17 million for his release.
Gail, the ex-wife (played by Michelle Williams) beseeches J.Paul Getty to pay the ransom. He refuses and hires private investigator (Mark Wahlberg) to verify if the kidnap is genuine.
