If you’re a fan of poetry and cinema you’ve come to the right place. Read my Get Out haiku and find out little known facts about the film. Have you seen Get Out already? Let me know what you think?
She’s the perfect girl,
they want me for my body.
Get out! Quick, run leave.
Get Out was Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, and features Daniel Kaluuya playing Chris Washington.
Chris is an up-and-coming photographer. He has a nice apartment, a very cute dog, and an adoring girlfriend. Or so we are led to believe…
Everything starts to go sideways when he is invited to her family home for the weekend. He is anxious because he is black, and has never been in an interracial relationship before. But, his worries are put aside when Rose (played by Allison Williams) reassures him her parents won’t care.
Yet, all is not how it seems, and what unfolds at the weekend is beyond even the most vivid of imaginations.
Interesting Facts
- The Chatham Theatre premiered Get Out, but ‘Chance’ bought all the tickets for his fans.
- Peele said the sunken place is a metaphor for the marginalisation of black audiences in cinema.
- During Andre’s abduction (in the opening scene), one of the kidnappers is wearing a Knight’s Templar helmet. This is a reference to the Holy Grail and immortality.
